About The Company
Joeris began as the partnership of Joeris & Clauss in 1967. Founded by Leo Joeris and Raymond Clauss, the company was started in what was then the quiet, small town of San Antonio, Texas. In the '70's construction boomed as San Antonio came into its own as one of America's largest cities. In 1975, Leo took a bold step by offering open-shop construction services.
This labor policy change led to lower prices and greater flexibility at construction jobsites. It wasn't long before other local construction companies would follow Joeris' lead and implement their own open-shop policies.
The company has seen other positive changes in the construction market as the focus has switched from hard bid to negotiated work. With clients no longer constrained to 'just accept the low bid', projects have gained flexibility. The negotiation process also allows Joeris to build the type of close relationships with clients that the company finds most rewarding.
The Joeris Clauss partnership was dissolved in the 1980's, but the business of construction continued under the new name of Joeris, Inc. The corporation became a partnership in 1999 and is currently managed by Leo's son, Gary. Gary joined the firm in 1978 and has seen the company through many changes and some tough times. Joeris has moved forward with a philosophy focused on relationships - both internal and external. This philosophy has served the firm well as it has become one of the fastest growing and most respected construction companies in San Antonio. Leo was able to witness this tremendous growth during his short retirement. He left the company in 2001 to spend more time with his wife, Joy. Sadly, Leo passed away just four short years later in 2005.
Today, Joeris General Contractors is known for its team of top-notch project managers, estimators and superintendents. While building San Antonio, Joeris has also built a solid reputation grounded in trust and competence.
